Favorites play on at Kailua doubles

Two-time defending champions and top-seeded Minh Le and Wei-Yu Su swept Marty Ishida and Hiram Oyama, 6-2, 6-2, last night in the 2008 Blue Moon Men's Night Doubles main draw at Kailua Racquet Club.
In other matches, No. 3 seed Ikaika Jobe and Bryan Wooten defeated Muka Godinet and Sinapao Roberts, 6-1, 6-2, and No. 4 seed Michael Bruggemann and Erich Chen beat Kevin Konishi and Gregg Takata, 7-5, 6-1.
Meanwhile, No. 5 seed Bradley Lum-Tucker and Jesse Paer defeated Zach Hasenyager and Keven Wong, 6-4, 6-4, and No. 6 seed Stefan Pampulov and Henry Somerville beat Luis Gonzaga and Stephen Royalty, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).
The tournament continues tonight with main draw matches at 6 and 7:15. There is no admission charge for the matches.
FISHING
JAPAN, CALIFORNIA LEAD
Defending champion Hilton Grand Vacations Fishing Club of Japan shared the lead after the first day of the 49th Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament yesterday offshore the Big Island.
Within the first hour of fishing, Hilton angler Hidemi Hayashi tagged and released a Pacific blue marlin aboard the Intrepid, captained by Rick Reger.
Hilton and Team Malaka of California lead the standings with 600 points each.
In the captain's standings, Reger and Guy Terwilliger share the lead with 600 points apiece.

SHOP FOR SCHOOLS
O'ahu high school athletic directors are asked to participate in this year's Kraft Shop and Score program with Times Supermarkets.
The program allows shoppers to accumulate points for participating schools by purchasing Kraft and other designated products at Times. Schools will then receive a share of a $100,000 credit, based on the percentage of total points accumulated through purchases, to buy adidas uniforms and equipment. All participating high schools are guaranteed a minimum $500 credit.
Last year, nearly 50 Oahu schools participated in the program, with Castle earning more than $17,000. Finishing behind Castle were 'Aiea, Waipahu, Kalani and McKinley.
The program runs from Sept. 10 to Oct. 28. Schools must register to participate by Aug. 11. To register, call 533-4165.
