Kristina Lum was chosen as Mrs. Hawai'i 2008 during ceremonies Friday night in the Blaisdell Center's Pikake Room.

She was crowned by the outgoing Mrs. Hawai'i, Nadine Wise.

Lum represented the Hawai'i Kai district and will represent Hawai'i in the national Mrs. America pageant in Tucson, Arizona on Sept. 2.

The first runner-up was Michelle Kama, with Chelsea Macias as second runner-up and Sheri Taflinger as third.

'ZACK AND MIRI' FLASHES FANS

SAN DIEGO — Kevin Smith treated his fans to some adults-only material at Comic-Con yesterday.

The writer-director — a cult favorite at the comic-book convention — showed footage from his new film, "Zack and Miri Make a Porno." He said the comedy starring Seth Rogen, Elizabeth Banks, Justin Long and Traci Lords has been rated NC-17 by the Motion Picture Association of America.

Smith called the rating, which prohibits children under 17 from seeing the film, "disappointing," and said he hopes to have it revised to an R rating. A hearing Aug. 4 will determine whether his latest cut meets R-rating standards, which allow a person under 17 to see the film if accompanied by an adult.

An R-rated version of the film is to be released Oct. 31.

The "Zack and Miri" clip shown at Comic-Con featured a heated discussion between a porn star played by Long and his gay lover.

Banks, who plays Miri, described the film as "a really sweet love story," but Smith assured fans it is just as raunchy as any of his past flicks, including "Clerks," "Dogma" and "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back."

EMMYS THIS YEAR TO HAVE 5 HOSTS

LOS ANGELES — The reality is, there won't be an Emmy host this year — there will be five.

The reality-TV hosts nominated in the new category that honors their work will preside over the show, ABC and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences said Friday.

They are: Tom Bergeron of "Dancing With the Stars," Ryan Seacrest of "American Idol," Howie Mandel of "Deal or No Deal," Heidi Klum of "Project Runway" and Jeff Probst of "Survivor."

"It just seemed like a perfect way to stay current with the state of television today," said Ken Ehrlich, executive producer of the Sept. 21 Emmy broadcast on ABC.

Hosts usually fly solo; Seacrest had the job in 2007. None of the five balked at sharing the spot, Ehrlich said:

"They were excited by this. They got it, what a fresh idea this was and how this could be fun for them."

TEEN SINGING STAR SKIPS GRADUATION

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — While most of her peers donned caps and gowns and went to receive their high school diplomas, country star Taylor Swift was strumming a guitar and performing for thousands of fans.

So Swift got her diploma in the mail.

"Education has always been at the forefront of my priorities, so I'm really glad to have my diploma," the 18-year-old singer-songwriter said Friday.

Swift started out at a public high school. But when her career heated up and she needed more flexibility, she switched in the 11th grade to Aaron Academy, a Christian school that offers home schooling.

Swift's self-titled debut album has sold more than 3 million copies and produced hits such as "Our Song" and "Teardrops on My Guitar."

BACHELOR'S ROSE WILTS OFF-CAMERA

TV-manufactured lovebirds Matt Grant and Shayne Lamas, who got engaged on ABC's "The Bachelor: London Calling" in May, are calling it off.

"We tried hard to make it work," they said in a statement.
