Two wards of the state who escaped July 14 from the Hawai'i Youth Correctional Facility's Observation and Assessment Cottage for girls in Kailua were captured by police Friday in Wai'anae.

The girls, ages 16 and 17, were arrested at 3 a.m. They escaped by climbing to the roof during a disturbance in the cafeteria, police said.
