NFL: Chiefs agree to terms with first-round DT Dorsey
Associated Press
RIVER FALLS, Wis. — First-round draft pick Glenn Dorsey has agreed to contract terms with the Kansas City Chiefs and was expected at this afternoon's practice, The Associated Press has learned.
Dorsey, the fifth overall choice in the 2008 draft, agreed to a five-year deal with an option for a sixth year, Chiefs president Carl Peterson said on Saturday.
A person who requested anonymity because terms of the deal had not been announced said it included a guarantee of about $22 million.
Peterson said the deal was hastened by the signing the day before of Vernon Gholston, who was drafted right behind Dorsey by the New York Jets.
The Chiefs have agreed to terms with 11 of their 12 draft picks. Still unsigned is tight end Michael Merritt, a seventh-round selection out of Central Florida.
