Willie K, right, takes to the stage for the Waikiki Aquarium's "Ke Kani O Ke Kai" Summer Concert Series finale. Bring a low-backed chair or beach mat and maybe an umbrella, and stake your place on the aquarium's Great Lawn. This one's for Gabby ... and his musical legacy. Some of Islands' top entertainers will take part in the Gabby Pahinui Waimanalo Kanikapila, which also includes storytelling, hula and other cultural traditions. Among those scheduled to perform: Pahinui Hawaiian Band, the Aunty Genoa Keawe Ohana, Robi Kahakalau, The Makaha Sons and more. Kimo Kahoano and The Honolulu Skylark will emcee.

Celebrate the ancient chants, melodies and dances of Aotearoa (New Zealand) at the Polynesian Cultural Center's ninth annual Te Manahua Maori Cultural Competition, below. Local, national and international groups compete and will be judged on traditional chanting, action songs, original song compositions, poi dance, haka, entrances and exits.

Comic headliners Steve Byrne, from Los Angeles, and Jim Gossett, of Atlanta, lead "Laughs for Lions," a benefit for Kamehameha Lions Club Foundation, which raises funds for service projects and youth scholarships. Byrne, below, draws his humor from his Korean and Irish upbringing; Gossett specializes in impersonations, including impressions of Bill Clinton, George Bush, Jay Leno and others. Also performing: magician Alan Arita, comics Abe & Franklin and The Great Baloni, a "comedy mentalist."

Looking for homegrown, locally produced items? You're likely to find it at the 13th annual Made in Hawaii Festival, which includes more than 400 booths featuring food, gifts and crafts that can proudly bear a "Made In Hawaii" seal of approval. The three-day event features cooking demos by some of Hawai'i's top chefs, as well as entertainment by Frank DeLima, Maunalua, Nathan Aweau and others. The festival is sponsored by First Hawaiian Bank and produced by the Hawaii Food Industry Association.

Hawaiian Hall of Fame artistic director Ku'uipo Kumukahi, right, joins her colleagues Kimo Stone, Dr. Isaac Akuna and Joe Winchester for a concert at the Atherton Performing Arts Studio. The quartet will perform songs from the 2008 Na Hoku Hanohano Award album of the year, "Na Lani 'Eha," showcasing the music of royal composers David Kalakaua, Lili'uokalani, Miriam Likelike and William Pitt Leleiohoku.

Band Camp 6 features a couple of familiar headliners: 311 and Jason Mraz. 311, last seen in the Islands in 2006, is working on a new album; its hit single "Amber" was featured in the movie "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," which was partly filmed on O'ahu. Mraz's latest album, "We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things," peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard charts with the hit single "I'm Yours"; he played to a packed Waikiki Shell in May.

Join Cecilio and Kapono, left, as they remember the good times together at "Back in the Day," a concert that celebrates their 35th anniversary. The concert title also is the name of the duo's newest single, and the event is part of the C&K 35 — Back in the Day U.S. Tour that begins Aug. 15 on Guam. Also performing that night are the groups Kalapana and Summer. A portion of the proceeds will go to Keiki O Ka 'Aina Family Learning Center.
