Cane & Taro, D.K. Kodama's cleverly named new restaurant, opens later this year in the old Rusty Harpoon location at Whaler's Village in Ka'anapali, Maui. (Rusty Harpoon is not closing, but moving.) Cane & Taro will have a plantation-era theme in keeping with the name of Kodama's Sansei ("third generation") company of eateries and will be a breakfast, lunch and dinner establishment. And they're throwing in a few Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar favorites (nigiri foie gras?). More information to come, but a middle-scale, salad, sandwich, burger, fresh-fish, beef, chicken menu is the plan, rather than the typical Sansei sushi-style place.
