SUNDAY'S MUST-SEE

"Army Wives," 7 p.m., Lifetime. This is Roxy's big moment. She's taken over the bar that was shattered by a mad bomber. Sunday is the reopening. It's a huge responsibility for someone whose previous experience involved being a sassy waitress. There are last-minute inspections, repairs, deliveries. Roxy also has to worry about her two kids and her husband, who's eager to ignore his wounds and return to combat. And there's the crucial question: Will people really shake off the bad memories and return to the bar? That story is told quite well, thanks partly to Sally Pressman's terrific portrayal of Roxy, one of TV's better characters.

SUNDAY'S MIGHT-SEE

"Foyle's War: Broken Souls," 8 p.m., PBS. The war is near its end now and the Allies are finally winning. Back home, we see some of the lingering pain.

One former soldier has been institutionalized. Another returns home to find that a handsome German prisoner of war is his wife's farm hand. A teen flees the city, trying to recapture the serenity he found as an evacuee. And a Jewish doctor throws himself into work and chess, while agonizing over the wife and daughter who never got out. There are some solid dramatic moments here, along with two murder cases. "Foyle's War" has its final episode next Sunday, with strong stories to tell.

OF NOTE

"True Women" (1997), 6 p.m., ION (formerly Pax). The prototype of a Texas woman, strong and confident, seems to have deep roots. This miniseries views the early years of Texas, beginning in 1835, focusing especially on the women. It stars Dana Delany, Annabeth Gish and then-newcomer Angelina Jolie. She was 22 at the time and already impressive. Most viewers hadn't seen Jolie before, but they would soon.

"High School Musical: Get in the Picture" debut, 7 p.m., ABC. There will be lots of commotion in the "American Idol" style, but the prize is fairly small. The winner get a Disney recording deal for two singles and will be featured in the video at the end of the "High School Musical 3" movie. On Sunday, we see the East Coast auditions. They continue Monday, with the West Coast ones next week.

"The Simpsons," 8 p.m., Fox. Homer's mom (voiced by Glenn Close) shows up. They've had problems.

"Generation Kill," 8:45 p.m., HBO. As this Marine unit rolls through Iraq, the guys worry that they'll never get resistance and a chance to fight back. By the end of this hour, that's definitely not a problem. Based on a real-life unit, this miniseries takes a while to catch on. The Marines range from heroic to perverse. Rumors fly, theories clash. Gradually, they become people worth watching.

"Desperate Housewives," 9 p.m., ABC. Here's a rerun of one of the best episodes, as a tornado heads toward the neighborhood.
