‘Aina Haina's Joy Monahan surfs her heat in round four at the Roxy Jam Biarritz in Biarritz, France. Monahan posted the second highest total heat score of the day with a 13.75, beating her competitor Yoko Shimajiri, of Japan, who ended the heat with 4.80.

Joy Monahan of 'Aina Haina advanced to the quarterfinals of the Roxy ASP Women's World Longboard Championship today.

The fourth round was run in 2- to 3-foot waves at Biarritz, France.

Monahan defeated Japan's Yuko Shimajiri, 13.75 points to 4.80 points. She will face Rachel Barry of California, who defeated Isabelle Braly of Australia, 10.75 to 7.75.

Hawai'i's Miku Uemura was eliminated by Chelsea Williams of Australia, 13 to 7.45.

In the completion of the third round also today, Hawai'i's Carissa Moore lost to Justine Dupont of France, 13.15 to 11.75 and Hawai'i's Kelia Moniz was eliminated by Leah Dawson, 10 to 9.15. Uemura defeated Cristiana Pires of Brazil, 10.35 to 5.70 to advance to the fourth round.
