WASHINGTON — The Washington Nationals held a moment of silence today for two fans who died on a team-promoted shuttle bus on the way to a game.

Police say the fans were standing on the upper deck of an open-top double-decker bus on the way to Friday night's game against the Houston Astros when their heads struck the bottom of an underpass.

Joshua Stoll, 24, of Sterling, Va., died shortly after the accident. Michael Feiock, 35, of Centreville, Va., died at a hospital Saturday.

The bus, owned by private company Open Top Sightseeing, is part of a fleet contracted by the Nationals to carry fans to Nationals Park from the parking lot at the team's old home, RFK Stadium. The service was implemented when the new ballpark opened this season because of a lack of sufficient parking spaces in the area.

There were 16 people onboard the bus. None of the other fans were injured.

Nationals president Stan Kasten said the team was "terribly saddened" by the accident.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of all involved," he said.
