Kaua'i surfer Bethany Hamilton appears on a DVD for 2008 high school graduates that includes inspirational messages to young Christians.

In her segment, Hamilton says: "I just want to encourage you in your goals. Stick with it and give it your all. And have fun now that you're going out more into the world."

She lists her goals, to be a world-champion surfer and to "glorify God in my life," and says being home-schooled allowed her the flexibility to travel "to really neat places like South Africa and Indonesia — and I got to surf."

Though she has several correspondence courses to finish before getting her diploma, Allen Weed, president of interlinc, the company that produced the DVD, said in an e-mail that he didn't hesitate to have her as part of the project.
