At this month's Kilauea Volcano Runs, runners of all abilities can choose from the 26.2-mile Volcano Marathon, 10-mile Rim Run, 5-mile Kilauea Caldera Run or 5-mile Kilauea Caldera Walk.

The marathon and 10-mile rim run courses have changed this year since being rerouted by the National Park Service to avoid problems with volcanic activity at Halema'uma'u Crater. The Volcano Marathon covers lava fields in the Ka'u Desert and 1,000-foot changes in elevation. As a result of the changes, all age group winners in this year's marathon and 10-mile run will be setting course records. The 5-mile Kilauea Caldera Run & Walk will remain the same: 7:15 a.m., July 26 at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. Race information and entry forms, www.volcanoartcenter.org.

NEW YORK CITY

WANT TO GET AROUND MANHATTAN IN A NOVEL WAY? TRY A PEDICAB

Try this for getting around New York. Instead of a taxi, hail a pedicab from the street to get across town. Average cost is $15 to $40 for a 10- to 30-minute ride. Or, enjoy a longer excursion around the city, with commentary. Manhattan Rickshaw Co. offers tours led by licensed guides. Tours include the Southern Loop of Central Park ($75; 30-45 minutes), Greenwich Village ($75; 60-75 minutes) and Lower East Side/Chinatown/Little Italy ($140; up to two hours). Prices are per vehicle, which fit up to three passengers. The company will also design a tour per your interests. 212-604-4729, www.manhattanrickshaw.com.

DELTA AIR LINES

USING YOUR FREQUENT-FLIER MILES WILL REQUIRE YOU TO PAY A NEW FEE

Delta Air Lines will begin charging fees for customers cashing in their frequent flier miles. Starting Aug. 15, Delta will add a $25 fuel surcharge for flights to domestic destinations and Canada. It will charge $50 for international flights.

The fees will not apply to passengers who have ticketed itineraries already or have tickets issued before Aug. 15, regardless of the date of travel. The move follows a similar initiative announced by US Airways earlier this month. Starting Aug. 6, US Airways will begin charging $25 to redeem frequent-flier miles for domestic flights and to Canada, and $35 for flights to Mexico and the Caribbean. Flights to Hawai'i or to international destinations outside of North America will cost $50.
