Things to do today: Fireworks, music and magic

Advertiser Staff

Get a head start on you fireworks watching tonight at the Aloha Tower Marketplace. The fun begins at 5 p.m. and includes ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro, the Pacific Fleet Band, face- and hair-painting and a balloon artist.

The main event goes up in flames and smoke beginning at 9 p.m. The best part — it's free.

If Hawaiian music is your venue, drop by foster Botanical Garden where Keith Haugen, Frank Uyehara and Carmen Haugen perform as part of the free Twilight Summer Concert Series from 4:30-7:15 p.m.

Even if you can spell prestidigitation, you can see some of it when magician Kelvin Chun puts on a free show at 6:30 p.m. at the Kailua Public Library. The show is suitable for children 5 and older who are accompanied by a parent.
