The Ko'olaupoko Hawaiian Civic Club will host an informational meeting about cultural activities and a vision for the Kane'ohe area from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Queen Lili'uokalani Children's Center, 46-316 Ha'iku Road.

Speakers include Kanekoa Kuke-Shultz, Kane'ohe Bay marine coordinator for the Nature Conservancy, who will present research on limu restoration in the bay. Limu expert Jerry Kaluhiwa joined with Kuke-Shultz on the project.

Cultural preservationists Donna and Wali Camvel will discuss their vision to restore taro patches in the Luluku agriculture district and their plan to produce poi and other food products for market.

Leialoha "Rocky" Kaluhiwa and Mahealani Cypher, members of the civic club, will present a community vision for Ha'iku Valley, gathered from the area's longtime families.

The meeting is free and open to the public.
