Jenny Gross scored 11 points, Taylor Richards added 10 and the Utah State Aggies forced 33 turnovers to defeat the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine, 55-48, at Logan, Utah yesterday in a Western Athletic Conference matchup.

The Aggies (6-8, 2-0) shot just 31 percent (20 of 63) from the field, but scored 28 points off the turnovers.

Iwona Zagrobelna matched her career-high with 18 points and had nine rebounds to lead the Rainbow Wahine (6-8, 0-1). Tanya Smith contributed 13 points and 12 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season.

Hawai'i, playing the first of a four-game road trip, is at Nevada tomorrow. UH then has games at Fresno State (Jan. 17) and San Jose State (Jan. 19) before starting its home WAC season Jan. 26 against Idaho State at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Maya Moore scored 25 points and Tina Charles had 18 points and 14 rebounds as the Huskies (14-0, 2-0 Big East) routed the Mountaineers (11-3, 1-1) at Storrs, Conn.

Jessica Morrow and Jhasmin Player each scored 19 points and the visiting Lady Bears (13-1) hit five of their eight 3-pointers in the second half to beat the Lady Raiders (12-3) at Lubbock, Texas, in the Big 12 opener for both.

HAWAI'I PACIFIC 70, CHAMINADE 63

Angela Spence scored 17 points to lead four teammates in double figures and the Sea Warriors (1-11, 1-2) rallied from a 34-28 halftime deficit to beat the Silverswords (0-10, 0-3) in a Pacific West Conference game at Blaisdell Arena.

Blate Karras and Emily Kreutter each added 12, and Jocelyn Norris and Ashley Jenkins each had 11 for HPU. Simrin Cummins scored 18 and Katherine Carlisle had 11 for Chaminade.

Tyler Hansbrough scored 23 points, Wayne Ellington added 19 and the Tar Heels (16-0) used a 13-4 run for a 67-49 lead in beating the Bulldogs (11-4) at Chapel Hill, N.C.

Derrick Rose scored 19 points and the Tigers (14-0) hit 13 of their first 18 shots in the second half to open up a 77-47 lead in routing the Pirates (6-8) at Memphis, Tenn., in the Conference USA opener for both.

Tyler Smith hit a layup with 4.2 seconds to play and the Volunteers (13-1) handed the Rebels (13-1) their first loss of the season in the Southeastern Conference opener for both at Knoxville, Tenn.

Taylor King scored 15 points as the Blue Devils (12-1) held off the Owls (6-7) in Philadelphia and helped coach Mike Krzyzewski move into sixth place on the career wins list with a 787-262 record.
