Inhale sweet air and listen to sweet music at the "Breathe Concert — Clean Air For Everyone." Performing will be more than 20 Hawai'i entertainers who oppose working in smoky venues — and support the state law that prohibits smoking in public indoor places. Hoku and Po'okela award winners Cathy Foy-Mahi, Danny Couch, Keahi Conjugacion and Raiatea Helm are among those volunteering their time for the American Lung Association of Hawai'i's fundraiser for programs tied to lung health.

Circus meets cabaret at ARTafterDARK's annual Starlight Ball. "Circo di Notti" will feature roaming and performance artists, food from top local restaurants, bidding wars for luxury accessories and artwork and more. The event is a benefit for the Academy of Arts' Art To Go Program, which provides art instruction and supplies to children across the state.

ProjectFocus Hawaii and Kids Hurt Too present "Lost and Found," a photography project designed to help youths continue healing after the loss of a loved one. Guided by professional photographers, children created their own imagery and contribute moving commentary about their loss — and healing.

Get a taste of the "Big Apple" arts scene as New York City modern dance company Doug Varone and Dancers teams with longtime company member and Hilo native Eddie Taketa in an evening that will feature a new piece set to Jake Shimabukuro's music. Also planned is a piece called "Castles," which invokes the romances of fairy tale characters. Varone and this company have earned eight New York Dance and Performance Awards (Bessies), American Dance Festival Choreography Awards and have performed on stages including The Kennedy Center, London's Queen Elizabeth Hall, Toronto's Harbourfront and many more.

The annual Hanayagi Dancing Academy's "Maizome," also known as first dance of the year, welcomes the new year through traditional Japanese dance. The recital has been an annual tradition since Hanayagi Mitsuaki founded the academy in 1947. Students of all ages will perform various Japanese dances and shamisen numbers in a showcase of what they've learned over the past year.

The acoustic and electric blues trio Hot Tuna bring their strumming skills to Hawai'i for a four-show tour. During "An Evening With Hot Tuna," band members Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady and Barry Mitterhoff will perform hits from a career that has spanned more than three decades and produced more than two dozen albums.
