Traffic light to be installed on Big Island
Advertiser Staff
The Mohouli Street improvements on the Big Island continue with the installation of traffic signals at the intersection of Mohouli and Kumukoa streets in Hilo.
Installation work will begin the week of March 3. The project is expected to take 180 days. Motorists should plan on delays and use alternate routes while the work is underway. Police will control lane closures.
Mohouli Street is a vital link between the growing mauka suburbs and downtown Hilo, the University of Hawai`i-Hilo and major commercial areas. In the past seven years, $11.1 million in Federal, State and County funds has been spent on Mohouli Street traffic projects, and it is estimated that another $13 million will be spent in the next seven years on additional improvement projects.
