Hawai'i banged out 17 hits and scored in all but one inning to back Matt Daly in a 10-4 drubbing of San Francisco in NCAA Division I baseball tonight at Les Murakami Stadium.

Daly (1-0) went six innings, allowing four runs, two hits and four walks with eight strikeouts for UH (3-1).

Josh Slaats allowed three walks and two hits in three scoreless innings for a save.

Mitchell Bialosky (0-1) gave up five runs, 10 hits and two walks with one strikeoutin 4 1/3 for the Dons (0-1)

The Rainbows jumped on Bialosky for two in the first inning. Jon Hee led off with a double to center and scored on Derek DuPree's single to center. Brandon Haislet's double to left-center sent DuPree to third. After Vinnie Catricala fouled out to first, Jeffrey Van Doornum's ground out to shortstop scored DuPree to make it 2-0 and sent Haislet to third. Kevin Macdonald flied out to deep right to end the inning.

The Dons took advantage of Daly's control issues with a three-run second. Mitchell Bialosky led off with a walk and two outs later took second on Kyle Morgan's single. Ryan Lipkin walked to load the bases, which were cleared by Bobby Ethel's triple to right to give USF a 3-2 lead. After Joey Railey walked, Tavo Hall grounded out to the pitcher to end the inning.

Hawai'i tied it in the bottom of the second. With one out, Evan Zimny doubled off the right-field wall, Greg Garcia walked and Hee was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Zimny scored on DuPree's sacrifice fly to left to make it 3-all before Haislet struck out

The Rainbows took the lead in the third. Van Doornum singled to center with one out and Kevin Macdonald walked. Van Doornum was caught stealing third as Macdonald took second. Landon Hernandez then beat out a grounder at first for single to put runners at the corners. Zimny singled to left-center to score Macdonald as Hernandez took third, but Zimny was caught trying for second to end the inning but UH took a 4-3 lead.

The Dons tied it in the fifth. With one out Railey walked and took third when Tavo Hall reached first on first baseman Macdonald's fielding error. With Poppert at the plate, a wild pitch scored Railey and sent Hall to second. Another wild pitch sent Hall to third, but Daly struck out Poppert and Bialosky to keep the game tied at 4.

The Rainbows regained the lead in the fifth. Van Doornum led off with a double to right off Bialosky. After Macdonald popped out to second, Bialosky was lifted for Alex Kalogrides, who walked Hernandez and Zimny on eight pitches. Kalogrides was replaced by Garrett Luippold retired Garcia on a grounder to first that scored Van Doornum from third and advanded the other runners. Hee walked to load the bases, but DuPree hit hard grounder off the pitcher in which the ball caromed over to third and DuPree was thrown out at first to end the inning with UH ahead, 5-4.

Hawai'i blew it open with a three-run sixth. Haislet led off with a ground-rule double to right and Catricala walked. A balked moved the runners over, but Van Doornum grounded out to second with the infield playing in, holding the runners. Macdonald's flare triple to right scored the runners to make it 7-4. After Landon Hernandez fouled out to first, Zimny singled to center to score Macdonald to make it 8-4.

The Rainbows added to their lead in the seventh. With two outs, Haislet walked, took second on a wild pitch and scored on Catricala's double to center to make it 9-4.
