Los Banos to step down as Saint Louis athletic director

Todd Los Banos will be stepping down as Saint Louis School athletic director in June after five years at the helm so he can return to The Children's House school as an executive.
Los Banos, a former Children's House administrator, also had been the Crusaders' wrestling coach before taking over as AD. He guided Saint Louis to team state titles in 2001 and 2002.
"Being at Saint Louis has been fun for me, especially coaching," Los Banos said. "And I always wanted to be an AD, so I can check that off my list. But this (move) is a good thing for me."
Under Los Banos' tenure as AD, Saint Louis installed a new all-weather track thanks in large part to a donation from alumnus Dr. Johnston Lau.
"It's been a good ride, with the accomplishments of the programs and especially with the facilities," Los Banos said. "Right now, it's about passing it on to the next guy. In talking with the school, we want a smooth transition, not just with Saint Louis but also with the (Interscholastic League of Honolulu)."
Los Banos serves as the ILH's judo coordinator and sits on several league committees.
In a school press release, Saint Louis president Walter Kirimitsu and principal Russell Valente said they were "deeply saddened" in announcing Los Banos' resignation.
"We will miss Todd and are most appreciative for what he has done for Saint Louis and our student athletes," said Valente, who added that a search committee has been formed.

MCMORROW, ISIP WIN
Second-seeded Kyle McMorrow and top-seeded Catherine Isip won the 18 singles titles of the USTA Boys & Girls National Open yesterday at the Central O'ahu Regional Park.
McMorrow, of Thousand Oaks, Calif., beat Walker Keher, of Pacific Palisades, Calif., 6-3, 7-5. Isip, of Anaheim, Calif., beat Zoe De Bruycker, of Saratoga, Calif., 6-2, 6-2.
GOLF
3-WAY TIE IN BURNS
Host Hawai'i shot a 4-over-par 292 yesterday and was tied for 19th in the 21-team field of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate at the Leilehua Golf Course.
Auburn, Arizona and San Diego State share the lead after each shot 10-under 278.
Auburn's Jay Moseley, Arizona's Tarquin MacManus and San Diego State's Johan Carlsson share the individual lead at 6-under 66. UH's Travis Toyama is tied for 47th at 72.
