GALLERIES, STUDIOS OPEN

On the third Thursday of each month, Downtown-Chinatown galleries and studios keep their doors open late to give people the opportunity to learn a little about the arts from the artists themselves. Members of the Hawaii Glass Artists hui give a talk at 6 tonight at The ARTS at Marks Garage, 1159 Nu'uanu Ave.; have a conversation with Jim Foster from 6 to 8 at the Louis Pohl Gallery, 1111 Nu'uanu Ave.; and Deanna Miller, curator of "California Dreamin': LA to HI," gives a walk-through at 6:30 p.m. at the Nu'uanu Gallery at Marks Garage, 1161 Nu'uanu Ave.

FINAL WORD

"My fear is that I go up to the girl of my dreams and say, 'I'm sorry, but I've got to say hello to you,' and she slides the stool back and gets up and walks away saying, 'Not for me, Bub. I don't want anything to do with you.' "
