America faces several serious challenges — the war in Iraq, illegal immigration and the faltering economy — that have left citizens longing for a solution.

Leaders need to re-think their approach to these challenges, which are increasingly international in scope.

What America needs most in presidential candidates is a new perspective, a change. America needs a president who can strongly lead the country out of turbulence into a time of peace and prosperity. Many voters believe they have found this in Democratic candidate Sen. Barack Obama.

As Obama steadily gains support, many worry because he does not have as much political experience as his rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton.

However, this is really his greatest strength. Obama has a fresh eye and a lack of baggage that might otherwise weigh him down and push him toward caution when boldness is necessary. His exciting and charismatic qualities make him an even stronger candidate.

Voters have realized that while experience can certainly help with the fine details, Obama's visions and creativity are necessary for a better future.

Experience can be useful, but change means a new approach that gives hope to people. Past presidents, such as John F. Kennedy, have demonstrated that a long political history is not always necessary for a good presidency.

Finally, Obama's change-oriented goals have especially appealed to younger, "new direction" voters and those who have lost interest in politics.

His views on the economy, the war and healthcare have given many of them inspiration, hope for the future, a newfound interest in participation in government and a way to get rid of the craziness of trying the same old thing.
