A 16-year-old Kalihi boy injured last night in a moped crash on Pahounui Drive, 300 feet west of Sand Island Access Road, remained in critical condition this afternoon at The Queen's Medical Center, according to police.
Police vehicular homicide investigator Sgt. Alan Vegas said the boy lost control of a 1998 Honda moped on Pahounui Drive and it hit the curb. The driver was thrown from the moped, which had been reported stolen in February 2007, Vegas said.
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, Vegas said.
