Bruno Escalante Jr. of Waimanalo is part the 14-member United States team competing in two dual meets in Russia starting Feb. 24.

Escalante, 19, is ranked No. 5 in the flyweight (112 pounds) division by USA Boxing, and was a semifinalist at the 2007 Olympic Team Trials. He is participating in training camp at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The USA team going to Russia includes 2008 Olympians and national team members. The duals are Feb. 24 in Magnitogrosk and Feb. 29 in Novosibirsk.

Escalante also is scheduled to be part of the Hawai'i team that will fight in the USA National Championships at Colorado Springs, March 8 to 16.
