MARSEILLE, France — Mario Ancic of Croatia served an ace to win the third set and outlast Robin Soderling of Sweden 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-2 today in the quarterfinals of the Open 13.
Fourth-seeded Andy Murray of Britain beat Nicolas Mahut of France 7-5, 7-6 (5) to join Ancic in the semifinals.
Ancic, a top 10 player until illness and a shoulder injury spoiled his 2007 season, will face third-seeded Mikhail Youzhny of Russia or sixth-seeded Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus in the semifinals.
Murray next plays the winner of an all-French match between defending champion Gilles Simon and Paul-Henri Mathieu, seeded eighth.
