Mesa Air expects to report loss

The parent of interisland carrier go! said it expects to report a loss for its fiscal first quarter.
In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission today, Phoenix-based Mesa Air Group is asking to delay the filing of its financials for the quarter ending Dec. 31, 2007.
Mesa said it is not yet able to quantify the size of its first-quarter loss, which would be the company's third quarterly loss in a row. Last month, the company posted a record $68.2 million loss for its fiscal fourth quarter.
CONSTRUCTION CENTER GETS $250,000
The Alexander & Baldwin Foundation and Kukui'ula Development Co. have awarded a $250,000 grant to support the Building Industry Association of Hawaii's capital campaign for its new $7.75 million building to be named The Construction Training Center of the Pacific.
Kukui'ula Development is a joint venture funded in significant part by Alexander & Baldwin. Alexander & Baldwin Foundation & Kukui'ula Development are among the largest donors to the campaign, which so far has raised $5.5 million.
"Building and maintaining a strong and skilled construction workforce is key to our state's future economic health," said A&B Foundation President Meredith Ching. The new 17,000-square-foot Construction Training Center of the Pacific will be in Waipahu.
PRUDENTIAL TO OPEN NEW OFFICE
Prudential Locations will hold a traditional maile lei untying and Hawaiian blessing tomorrow to mark the grand opening of its new 4,500-square-foot Pearlridge office.
The office will be home to 100 real estate agents who will serve the greater West O'ahu community.
The blessing, scheduled for noon, will be conducted by Kahu Richard Mamanu.
31 HOMES FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES
Habitat for Humanity Leeward Oahu is beginning the selection process to choose families for its 31-home subdivision due to open in September.
The organization partners with low-income families "who are ready for the responsibility and challenge of homeownership, but would not qualify for a traditional mortgage," according to a news release from Habitat for Humanity.

OUTRIGGER JOINS WITH CHOICE HOTELS
Six Outrigger properties in Hawai'i now are affiliated with Choice Hotels International, the two companies announced yesterday.
The hotels can be booked through Choice's central reservations systems and also will be part of the company's Choice Privileges rewards program.
The hotels are the Ala Moana Hotel, Outrigger Luana Waikiki, The Wyland Waikiki, Ohana Waikiki West, Ohana Honolulu Airport and the Keauhou Beach Resort.
