Preps: Konawaena beats KS-Hawaii for BIIF boys title
Austonn Lazoff scored 20 points to lead the host Konawaena High School boys basketball team to a 55-47 win over Kamehameha-Hawai'i last night in a playoff game for the Big Island Interscholastic Federation regular-season title.
With the win, the Wildcats (13-1), ranked sixth in the Advertiser's statewide poll of media and coaches, earned the league's automatic berth to next week's state tournament.
Hogan Rosehill scored 17 points for the fifth-ranked Warriors (12-2), who must now play in this week's BIIF tournament to earn a state berth.
