High seas cancel today's Hawaii Superferry voyages

Advertiser Staff

The Superferry has announced on its Web site that voyages between Honolulu and Kahului today have been canceled due to high sea conditions.

A reservations agent will be contacting passengers impacted by this cancellation to assist with either rebooking or to obtain a refund.

The notice said that If you have a vehicle that is returning to its port of origin, the company is making arrangements to ship your vehicle home. More information and instructions will be provided by the company.

Today's cancellations come just prior to the Superferry shutting down operations for maintenance work and recertification by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Starting Wednesday, the Superferry will be taking an annual drydock, during which permanent repairs related to the vessel's auxiliary rudders will be made to enhance passenger comfort.

The Alakai will be drydocked for approximately two weeks. Voyages have been canceled during this period, with service expected to resume March 3.
