For student videographers, next stop is San Francisco

Advertiser Staff

A winner of the 2007 National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences National Student Television Awards, Hawaii Student Television and its participating winning students have been invited to attend a special event today at the University of San Francisco.

The NSTV awards are equivalent to an Emmy Award for students. HSTV's NSTV winning videos, a therapeutic foster parent public service announcement produced for Child and Family Services, and a Daughters of Hawai'i Hulihee Palace Fundraising Video, will be shown and given recognition as winners.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences event includes exhibits, sessions and an opportunity to meet and pitch professionals from the television industry. Also, the 2007 Emmy winners will be screened.

HSTV is an outreach program designed to get video projects for students and schools to develop for businesses, corporations, associations and nonprofit organizations islandwide, while providing educational and financial assistance for their film and video programs. The projects are developed in collaboration with local educators and film and television professionals.

HSTV is endorsed by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, is the winner of the 2007 National Student Television Awards for Excellence, and has created video productions and provided broadcast placement to major organizations statewide, such as the University of Hawai'i/HCOP, The Honolulu Advertiser, Pizza Hut, state Department of Health and Sony Pictures/Columbia Pictures.
