AIEA — Ryo Ishikawa of Japan had five birdies and no bogeys today on the way to a 67 to stand at 5-under-par 139 after two rounds of the Pearl Open.

The 16-year-old phenom was in a four-way tie for eighth place, three strokes behind early second-round leader Chris O'Connor, after recording birdies on four of the last eight holes.

Darkness closed in at Pearl Country Club before 32 players could finish the round, which will be completed before tomorrow's final round.

Ishikawa, who is making his second start since becoming the youngest pro in the history of men's golf in Japan, was tied for 41st place at even par after the rain-delayed first round was completed earlier today.

He finished 13th in last year's tournament.

Ishikawa attained celebrity status last May when he won the Munsingwear Open KSB Cup at age 15. That made him the youngest winner of a Japanese tour event.
