MacArthur Fellow Cheryl Hayashi visits alma mater

Cheryl Hayashi talks on "Spiders, Silks and Me" at 10:45 a.m. today at 'Iolani School's Seto Hall.
The biologist and associate professor at the University of California, Riverside was awarded a $500,000 "genius grant" from The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in 2007 to further her research. The 1985 'Iolani grad studies the architecture, structure and function of spider silks. Her scientific articles have appeared in journals such as Science, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA, and the Journal of Experimental Biology.
