Bishop Museum gets $100K for Hawaiian Hall restoration

Advertiser Staff

Hawaiian Electric Industries and its subsidiaries, Hawaiian Electric Company and American Savings Bank, are giving $100,000 to the Bishop Museum in support of the comprehensive restoration of the museum's Hawaiian Hall.

The $21 million project is expected to be completed in August 2009. When it reopens the Hawaiian Hall will feature the world's collection of Hawaiian artifacts and also give visitors a chance to learn about the collection through a Hawaiian perspective.

In a released statement this morning, Bishop Museum President & CEO Tim Johns thanked HEI, HECO and American Savings Bank.

"They are helping to make sure that Bishop Museum continues to have the unique ability to share a wealth of stories of Hawai'i's history and living culture," Johns said.
