MLB: Tigers agree to 1-year deal with catcher Treanor

DETROIT — The Detroit Tigers agreed to terms on a one-year contract with catcher Matt Treanor today.
Treanor hit .238 with two homers and 23 RBI in 65 games for Florida last season.
He is married to two-time Olympic beach volleyball gold medalist Misty May-Treanor, who dropped out of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" after tearing an Achilles' tendon.
Detroit is expected to start Gerald Laird at catcher after acquiring him from Texas on the opening day of baseball's winter meetings. He hit .276 with six home runs and 41 RBIs in 95 games for the Rangers in 2008
The Tigers were looking for help at catcher after dealing Ivan Rodriguez last season.
