A University of Hawai'i-Manoa student reported that she was grabbed and sexually assaulted by an unknown male in an exterior stairwell at Hale Wainani apartments on campus last night.

The incident occurred between 7:30 and 8 p.m., a university security alert said.

The man was seen wearing a red shirt and black shorts. Campus security officers and staff with the university's Student Housing Services are increasing their presence in the area.

Anyone suspicious should be reported to police or campus security at 956-6911, officials said.
