PHILADELPHIA — LeBron James had to sweat out the fourth quarter for once.
The result was still the same: another Cleveland victory.
James scored 29 points, Mo Williams added a season-high 27 and the Cavaliers cruised to their 10th consecutive victory, beating the Philadelphia 76ers, 101-93, last night.
"This one, you had to earn," James said.
James hadn't had to sweat late too much over the last nine games, as the Cavaliers have won by a whopping average of 21.6 points.
James — who didn't play in the fourth quarter in six of the last seven games — was needed in the final quarter this time.
Anderson Varejao added 15 points, and Ben Wallace had 10 rebounds for the Central Division-leading Cavaliers, 18-1 in their last 19 games, 19-3 overall and 7-3 on the road. They are one win shy of tying the franchise record of 11 straight wins set during the 1988-89 season.
The Cavaliers played without guard Daniel Gibson, who will miss at least two weeks because of a toe injury, the team's first significant setback of the season.
The second may have come against the 76ers. Center Zydrunas Ilgauskas limped to the locker room with 9:39 left in the fourth with a sprained left ankle. He did not return.
X-rays were negative.
Gibson sprained his left big toe in the second quarter Tuesday night against Toronto. He didn't travel to Cleveland's game in Philadelphia, staying back to be examined by Dr. Jim Sferra at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health and to undergo an MRI and X-rays. The team said he didn't provide results of those tests.
NUGGETS 116, TIMBERWOLVES 105: Carmelo Anthony matched the NBA record for points in a quarter with 33 in the third and finished with a season-high 45 points, and Chauncey Billups added 22 points as host Denver beat Minnesota for the eighth straight time.
Knicks 121, Nets 109: Al Harrington scored a season-high 39 points and Tim Thomas added 26, including a dunk, 3-pointer and free throw for an 83-78 lead with 3:32 left in the third and visiting New York never trailed again in beating New Jersey.
Raptors 101, Pacers 88: Jason Kapono scored 25 points, Chris Bosh added 21 points and 10 rebounds, and host Toronto defeated Indiana to snap a five-game losing streak and improve to 1-3 since interim coach Jay Triano replaced Sam Mitchell.
Grizzlies 108, Thunder 102: Rudy Gay had 22 points, and backup point guard Mike Conley scored 14 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter, helping visiting Memphis rally from a 21-point deficit midway through the second quarter to beat Oklahoma City for its first two-game winning streak of the season.
Hornets 105, Bobcats 89: Chris Paul had 15 points and 15 assists, David West and Peja Stojakovic each scored 17 points and host New Orleans, wearing the white, red and black throwback uniforms of the old New Orleans Buccaneers of the ABA, beat Charlotte for its seventh win in eight games.
Spurs 95, Hawks 89: Manu Ginobili scored 27 points in a return to his sixth-man role, and Tim Duncan, playing in his 1,000th NBA game in the regular season and playoffs, added 19 points and 11 rebounds to help host San Antonio turn back Atlanta for its fourth straight victory.
Lakers 115, Suns 110: Pau Gasol scored 28 points, including a jumper to start a 6-0 run for a 91-86 lead with 8:42 to play, and host Los Angeles never trailed again in holding off Phoenix.
Warriors 119, Bucks 96: Stephen Jackson scored 21 points, C.J. Watson added 19 and host Golden State won its second straight after a nine-game losing streak with a rout of slumping Milwaukee, which lost all three games on its West Coast trip and has dropped seven of nine overall.
