High surf advisories posted for all islands

A high surf warning has been downgraded to a high surf advisory for the west-facing shores of the Big Island, the National Weather Service said.
In addition, a high surf advisory remains in effect to the north- and west-facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu and Molokai and for the north-facing shores of Maui.
The surf along west-facing shores of the Big Island is expected to be 5 to 10 feet today and to drop below the advisory level by tomorrow, forecasters said.
Surf along north-facing shores of all islands, from Niihau to Maui, is expected to be 12 to 16 feet today, dropping below the advisory level tonight.
Surf along the west facing shores of the islands from Niihau to Maui is expected to be 8 to 12 feet to day and to fall below the advisory level tonight.
The high surf advisories will remain in effect until 6 p.m. tonight.
Elsewhere on Oahu, look for surf of 2 to 4 feet today along east-facing shores and 2 feet or less along south-facing shores.
Outlook through Thursday, Dec. 11: The northwest swell will continue a slow decline over the weekend. Moderate surf will prevail along north- and west-facing shores during the first half of next week, with advisory level surf possible Tuesday night and Wednesday.
