MADRID, Spain — Seve Ballesteros was released from intensive care on Wednesday, a day after the five-time major winner underwent his fourth brain surgery to deal with a cancerous tumor.
Officials at Madrid's La Paz hospital said Ballesteros was "well" but would remain hospitalized after doctors implanted a valve to drain fluid from his brain on Tuesday.
Doctors also repaired a bone defect from one of the procedures the Spaniard has undergone since surgery to remove a malignant brain tumor on Oct. 24.
The 51-year-old Ballesteros was first admitted to the hospital on Oct. 6 after fainting at Madrid's international airport.
