Police have classified the death of a 4-year-old Wai'anae boy as an unattended death pending autopsy results by the city medical examiner's office.

According to police reports, the boy's father had placed a broken television on top of a broken stove and moved both out to the front porch area on Friday.

The boy's dad told police he saw his son crawling into the stove on Saturday at about 4 p.m. and told him to get out. As the dad turned away, he heard a crashing sound, police said, and when he looked back he saw his son unconscious on the ground and the television set next to him.

The boy was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.
