University of Hawai'i head football coach Greg McMackin said junior-college transfer Greg Alexander will be the starting quarterback against nationally ranked Florida tomorrow in Gainesville, Fla.

Alexander received most of the repetitions this week in preparation for UH's first meeting with Florida, which is ranked No. 5 in the nation and returns Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Tim Tebow.

Two weeks ago, UH named Brent Rausch as the No. 1 quarterback. But Rausch, another transfer, missed at least two full practices because of sore right (throwing) arm.

Rausch says he's now OK, but McMackin said Alexander, based on the number of repetitions he received with the first unit this week, gives the Warriors the best chance tomorrow.

The game will be played 12:30 p.m. local time, or 6:30 a.m. Hawai'i time. It will be televised on pay-per-view.
