COL. LLEWELLYN HALONA "BUDDY" FARDEN (retired), 87, of Kahala, formerly of Lahaina, Maui, died Aug. 13, 2008. A member of the musical Farden Family of Lahaina (which included the late Irmgard 'Aluli and Emma Sharpe); commissioned World War II artillery forward observer, C Battery, 80th Infantry Division; recipient of the Silver Star, British Military Cross, Bronze Star and Purple Heart; and employee at American Factors (Amfac), Pioneer, Young Brothers, and Hawaiian Airlines (including Kamuela, Hawai'i, assistant station manager; Kona, Hawai'i, store and supply manager; Hilo station manager; and retired cargo manager and cargo sales manager; also retired from Young Brothers; retired U.S. Army Reserve colonel; member of Hale O Na Ali'i O Hawai'i; and life member, Kona and Lahaina Hawaiian civic clubs. Survived by wife, Tsulan; children, Keahi, Puamana and Halona; sister, Edna Farden Bekeart; grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
