Artwork needed for student show

Teachers at the elementary through high school levels may submit student artwork for the annual Maui County Fair School Art Exhibit, Oct. 2-5 at the War Memorial Gym.

Two- and three-dimensional entries should be submitted by Sept. 26.

SCHOOL DROPOUTS GRADUATE TONIGHT

Thirteen students will receive their high school diplomas in ceremonies tonight marking their graduation from the Adult Friends for Youth 2008 Clinical/C-Base Alternative Education program.

The program offers a second chance to hundreds of school dropouts, who for one reason or another, weren't able to fit in more conventional educational systems.

Tonight's graduation will begin at 6 p.m. at the Farrington High School auditorium.

CONFERENCE WILL FOCUS ON INCLUSION

Learning Disabilities Association of Hawai'i presents, "All About Inclusion," a one-day conference for parents, professionals and youth on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Dole Cannery's Lanai Ballroom.

This event is free and open to the public. Reservations are required. Call 536-9684, ext. 25 to register.

$129,000 WILL FUND CAREER PROGRAMS

WASHINGTON — The University of Hawai'i has received a $129,000 grant to help strengthen career and technical education programs, the U.S. Department of Education announced yesterday.

The money will go to a partnership of the state Department of Education, the university, the state community college system, statewide work force agencies, and business and industry advisory councils for developing programs in the health science fields.
