Design and construction work on a new fleet store and outdoor gear facility at Pearl Harbor has been awarded to Honolulu-based Nan Inc., which does business as Ocean House Builders.
The U.S. Department of Defense said it awarded an $11.4 million contract to the builder, with work expected to be completed by May 2010.
Last month, Nan was awarded a $50.77 million contract by the state Deparment of Accounting and General Services to demolish and rebuild National Guard facilities at Keaukaha on the Big Island.
Nan was formed here in 1995 by general contractor Patrick Shin, who by 2002 had built the firm into the state's largest locally-owned federal construction contractor.
The company landed nearly $100 million in federal building jobs in 2002.
In 2006, Shin was fined $100,000 and sentenced to three weekends in prison for inflating a bid for federal contract work by about $380,000.
In that case, Shin was acting on behalf of JHL Construction, Inc., a company owned by his nephew.
