Public Storage, the operator of five storage facilities on O'ahu, said its revenues are down in Honolulu because of the economy and competition.
The Glendale, Calif., company operates 2,012 locations nationwide. On a conference call last week it said its Honolulu revenue was down 8 percent because of additional supply and reduced demand.
The company reported the Hawai'i results as it discussed second-quarter earnings, which rose to $133.8 million from $77.1 million a year earlier.
BUSINESS REGISTRATION ON WEB SITE
The Hawai'i Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs said its Business Registration Division has started a new service that allows the public to buy filed and certified business registration documents from its Web site.
The state said more than 100,000 documents are available for download and those that aren't available immediately can be e-mailed to the purchaser within days. The service was initially launched as a pilot project.

TIRES ORDERED REMOVED FROM LOT
The state Department of Health has ordered Pacific Island Properties LLC to remove tires from a vacant lot on Hanua Street in Kapolei because they pose a potential health or safety hazard.
The state said it sent the company a letter in January 2006 noting that tires on the property needed to be removed within 180 days.
In August 2007 it followed up with a warning letter that noted about 40,000 tires remained on the property and that they should be removed within three months.
In March of this year the state said about 30,000 waste tires remained on the property.
The order requires Pacific Island to properly remove the tires and transport them to a solid waste management facility or an out-of-state recycler. It said Pacific Island has 90 days to comply or contest the allegations or order.
