STAFFORD, Conn. — Connecticut police are investigating the death of a 21-year-old motocross rider who died Saturday after crashing during practice at a racetrack.

Anthony Hart of Henderson, Nev., was critically injured when he lost control of his motorcycle and hit an outer track barricade at Stafford Motor Speedway on Saturday, police said.

He died later Saturday at Hartford Hospital, where he had been taken by helicopter after the 3:30 p.m. crash. Connecticut state troopers were awaiting results of an autopsy that was expected to be completed on Monday.

Hart, known in racing circles as Tony, was the brother of Carey Hart, the motocross and reality television star formerly married to pop star Pink.

Anthony Hart crashed while practicing for the Doug Henry New England Grand Prix, track officials said in a statement. The event is sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association as part of its XTRM Supermoto Championship series.

This is the second year that Stafford has hosted the event that combines racing on parts of the paved track and traditional dirt motocross sections in the infield.
