Navy corpsman from Guam killed in Afghanistan

HAGATNA, Guam — A Navy hospital corpsman from Guam was killed in Afghanistan after his convoy was hit by a roadside bomb.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Anthony "Tony" Carbullido was on his second tour of duty.

The 25-year-old previously deployed to Iraq. Carbullido was assigned to Naval Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, Ill.

His wife, Summer Carbullido, lives in the couple's Chicago home. They don't have children.

His friend Kevin Diego said he will always remember Carbullido's upbeat demeanor. Diego said Carbullido never had a bad day.

He said everyone has their ups and downs but Carbullido's was almost always up.

Guam's delegate to the U.S. Congress, Madeleine Z. Bordallo, issued a statement extending her sympathies and prayers to Carbullido's family, friends and loved ones.
