Houston named preseason WAC Player of the Year
University of Hawai`i women's volleyball player Jamie Houston was named the preseason Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, today.
Houston, last year's WAC Player of the Year, was second in the nation with 5.51 kills per game last season. The senior is a three-time all-WAC honoree. This is the fourth-straight year that a Hawai'i player has earned the preseason honor. Houston was last year's preseason Player of the Year and Kanoe Kamana'o was chosen in 2005 and 2006. Voting is done by league coaches.
Joining Houston on the preseason team are teammates Aneli Cubi-Otineru and Amber Kaufman.
The Rainbow Wahine open practice on Monday and open the season on Aug. 29 against defending national champion Penn State.
