The annual crime-deterring event National Night Out is taking place tonight in Waipahu and Friday in 'Ewa Beach.

Various entertainment and other activities are planned for the event from 5 to 8 p.m. Tonight's event will be at Waipahu Intermediate School; Friday's will be at the Hale Pono Boys & Girls Club next to James Campbell High School.

Keynote speakers will include U.S. Attorney Ed Kubo and Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann.

In 'Ewa, entertainers will include Aunty Lani and Hulili. Kubo and several community policing leaders and elected officials will make remarks.
