Whale foundation's sand sculpture event is Aug. 16
The Pacific Whale Foundation's annual amateur Wild Dolphin Sand Sculpture Contest will be held Aug. 16 at the north end of Keawakapu Beach.
The contest is free and participants can sign up starting at 9 a.m. on the day of the contest. Participants will receive a free watching guide for wild dolphins and a poster. Shovels and pails will be available or participants may bring their own.
Prizes will be awarded at 12:30 p.m. Winners of the "Best Overall Family or 'Ohana Entry" will receive four tickets for the foundation's Lana'i Wild Dolphin & Snorkel Eco-adventure. Other prizes will be awarded for "Best Individual Entry," "Most Realistic Dolphin" and "Funniest Dolphin."
