A theft suspect extradicted to Hawai'i from Texas yesterday will be arraigned at Circuit Court Thursday for an alleged offense that occurred nearly 20 years ago.

Pamela Richardson, 50, is accused of first-degree theft for allegedly stealing over $35,000 in 1991 while working as branch manager of Associates Financial Service Co. of Hawaii in Wahiawa. Richardson allegedly approved numerous loans to fictitious or deceased people and depositing the money into her personal account.

According to prosecutors, Richardson was charged with first-degree theft on Oct. 29, 1991. She was indicted on March 10, 1994 and a warrant issued for her arrest. Prosecutors filed numerous extradition inquiries but only recently located her in Fort Worth, Tex.

Richardson fought extradition to Hawai'i and on June 11, Texas Gov. Rick Perry signed the extradition order.

Local authorities brought Richardson back to Honolulu yesterday. She was booked at the main police station cellblock at 11:55 a.m. and released after posting $5,000 bail.
