Trust donates $15,000 to hospital to aid elderly
The Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific has received a $15,000 grant to help people 70 and older who have a physical or mental illness and are needy.
The grant, from the Teresa F. Hughes Trust, will go to existing programs at the hospital. Each year, the facility serves more than 1,000 seniors through its inpatient program on O'ahu, and helps an additional 1,700 seniors through seven outpatients clinics around the state.
Seniors helped at the hospital are recovering from stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, fractures or other trauma.
More than 40 percent of the hospital's patients are elderly.
