About 400 participants from more than 30 organizations completed the Pearl Harbor Bike Path cleanup on April 19.

Participants collected 150 tires, 12 batteries, 72 pieces of metal, 150 trash bags and 2.5 cubic yards of green waste along the 13.5-mile section of the bike path from 'Aiea to Kapakahi Stream in Waipahu, the city said.

Those involved included the city, military, state Department of Transportation, Honolulu Police Department, Hawaiian Electric Co., and schools and community organizations.

"The cooperation and partnership helps to keep our water resources, and more importantly families who use the bike path safe," said Iwalani Sato, community relations specialist and cleanup coordinator with the city Department of Environmental Services.
