AMERICAN SAVINGS BANK
American Savings Bank has hired Cashundra Gray as the Kahului, Maui, Wal-Mart branch manager. Gray comes to American Savings from Santa Cruz Mortgage where she served as a mortgage consultant. She has been in the banking industry for 14 years and has experience working with the Union Bank of California and the Greater Valley Credit Union as a loan officer and manager.
HAWAIIANA MANAGEMENT CO.
Hawaiiana Management Co. Ltd., recently announced three promotions:
Jeff Dickinson was promoted to vice president. Dickinson came to Hawaiiana in 1999 from Management Specialists of Hawaii, where he served as manager of their Condominium Division. He manages several Hawaiiana properties, including Hokua, Capitol Place, Dowsett Point, One Archer Lane and The Royal Iolani.
Ed Robinson was promoted to vice president of new development. Robinson joined Hawaiiana as management executive in 1999, and was promoted to senior management executive and team leader in 2002. In 2006 he was appointed director of Hawaiiana's Development Group. He is Hawai'i's only large-scale manager, a designation acknowledging expertise in management of properties larger than 1,200 units and 1,000 acres.
John Ramsey was promoted to director of property management. Ramsey joined Hawaiiana in 1987 at the urging of founder and then-President Richard Gourley. He worked for the company until 1989, then returned in 1995.
KAHALA NUI
Kahala Nui, a life-care retirement community, has named Pat Duarte as chief executive officer. The longtime Hawai'i business executive will be responsible for strategic planning, asset management, financial performance and growth for the nonprofit organization. Most recently, he served as vice president and chief financial officer of Jon Duarte Design Group. Past positions include executive director of the Polynesian Voyaging Society, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Bishop Museum, senior vice president of Hawaii Dental Service and associate administrator of Straub Clinic & Hospital.
KAISER PERMANENTE HAWAII
Kaiser Permanente Hawaii has announced the promotion of Suzann Filleul to the newly created position of region nurse executive professional practice and development. Her responsibilities will include developing skills-based education and training programs, leading recruitment and workforce planning and ensuring that standards of practice are met. Filleul joined Kaiser Permanente in 2006 as chief nursing officer and assistant hospital administrator, bringing more than 34 years of healthcare experience to the position. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, Filleul was the vice president of Patient Care Services & Continuing Nursing Education at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.
M&E PACIFIC INC.
M&E Pacific Inc., a consulting engineering firm, has announced two staff changes:
Barry Muranaka is the firm's new senior project manager. He will be responsible for overseeing all facets of various large- and small-scale projects. Prior to joining M&E Pacific Inc., Muranaka spent 23 years at Akinaka & Associates Ltd., where he began as an engineer-in-training, progressed to project engineer and eventually became executive vice president in 2003.
Dennis Higa is the firm's new storm water program manager. He will be responsible for overseeing a team of eight in implementing all facets of storm water projects, including a major storm water program management contract with the City and County of Honolulu's Department of Environmental Services. Prior to joining M&E, Higa spent 14 years at the state's Department of Transportation Airports Division where he served as engineering program manager, program coordinator and construction head.
DELOITTE & TOUCHE
Carey Carpenter, Marcio Demelo and Sean Tsutsui have recently joined Deloitte & Touche as senior managers. Carpenter relocated from Deloitte's San Francisco office to head the Enterprise Risk Services department in Honolulu. Demelo transferred from Deloitte's New York office to join the Securitizations Transactions Team in Honolulu. Tsutsui will be responsible for individual taxation and estate planning.
WCIT ARCHITECTURE
WCIT Architecture has hired Edward Chargualaf as senior project manager. He will manage consultants, coordinate with various agencies and meet client's needs and expectations. Chargualaf is a registered architect in Guam and Colorado and has spent the last four years working for OZ Architecture in Boulder, Colo., where he specialized in multifamily or mixed-use mountain resort and loft-style developments.
